MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
Because we believe that young people are a real part of our parish family,
and should be able to participate fully in all aspects of church life, we
have some Sunday ministries which we invite young people to be part of:
Bell Ringers ring the bell before the 10 am services
Welcomers help the team that greets people and hands out books at the 10 am service
Readers are rostered to read scriptures. Childrens with good reding and speaking ability are welcome to join this roster.
Offertory Helpers are school age children who help to take up the offerings during the 10 am service
Communion Helpers are school age children who come up to the altar at communion time and assist by carrying the wafer dish and the grape juice trays at the 10 am service
Data Projector Operators (13+years) learn how to set up and operate the data projector, changing slides for music, responses, etc
Sound System Operators (10+ years) learn how to operate the sound desk, and adjust the volume for speakers, music group, etc
SUNDAY MORNINGS
Sunday morning 10 am services generally begin with everyone together in
the church. There are some songs, after which the children and young people
go to their specific groups. At the end of the service we all meet again
for communion, before going to the hall, where morning tea is available.
SUNBEAMS Usually there will be supervised activities for toddlers in the "Sunbeams" room at the back of the hall.
If there is no supervision parents are free to use the NURSERY room at the back of the church (with the window) for the very young children, so they can still participate in church worship.
PRIMARY SCHOOL AGE: Every Sunday morning there is something for children to enjoy. They usually go to the lounge for some singing, then break into age groups for a teaching time which includes stories and crafts.
New children are very welcome to come and see if they enjoy it.
INTERMEDIATES: This group is for the 10 - 12 year old and they have their own discussion time. They cover a range of issues and see how God, the church and Christianity relate to these issues and themselves.
